Rebekah Cooper
Project Manager
After a field injury at my previous job, I needed to remain in-office during recovery and was introduced to GIS. I had been looking for a slight career change, and after developing a few maps for wetland reports and slope hazard assessments, I knew GIS was the direction I wanted to go. I also realized that I wanted to go into project management to spread knowledge and awareness of the value and usefulness of GIS within the industry. I believe GIS is an underutilized asset that can really set many companies and municipalities apart, because GIS is a lot more than just making maps. We create GIS applications that hold data and which analyze that data geographically. That analyzed data can be used to develop not only maps, but specialized tools to help our clients, and even fellow coworkers visualize and manage their projects efficiently. At Gateway, I combine my role of project manager and my experience as a GIS analyst to create GIS-based solutions for Gateway's clients.
Prior to joining Gateway, I served as an environmental scientist in the Pittsburgh office of a global engineering firm.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and nurturing my hobby as a video game enthusiast.
